Şirin Soysal was born in 1980 in Vienna. She spent her childhood years in various European cities and graduated from the department of Drama and Theatre Studies at Trinity College Dublin, where she also completed her Master’s degree in film. She trained her voice over the years with remarkable teachers such as Mustafa Yurdakul, Tamara Nizhnikova and Randy Esen. She has released three albums since 2011, in the genres of jazz, cabaret and art rock. The first Turkish musician to be invited to perform at the Ertegün Jazz Series in Washington D.C., she was the winner of last year’s Best Jazz Artist Award at the Boğaziçi University Music Awards. Soysal will be reuniting with her old band members Şevket Akıncı on guitar, Adem Gülşen on keys and Ertan Şahin on sousaphone for this concert.
