Wickström, a sullen, cold restoranteur living in Helsinki meets Khaled, a Syrian immigrant who has fled the war-torn Aleppo with his sister. Along this long journey, Khaled has lost his sister and travelled to Helsinki in the engine room of a ship. Walking around Finland like an alien from space, he applies for asylum, but bureaucratic formalities give him a hard time, and the immigration office tells him that there is no trouble in Aleppo, and that he should return to his country. Trying to find his sister at the same time, Khaled starts living in Wickström’s restaurant. As these two completely different people become both colleagues and friends, the world keeps turning as it always does.
