Why would someone like Leyla go to a dinner meeting with her high school friends? She has never attended a high school meeting for twenty five years. And the trip involves a 16 hour train journey! Why is Canan, a final year student of nursing, on the train? She wants to be an actress, but is going to a job interview for a position as a nurse that she doesn’t want. What about Yavuz? He lies motionless next to a window, watching the street vendors, phaetons, passers-by all day. He is waiting for Canan, or maybe Leyla; or perhaps, the killer and the poet whose paths intersect on a night train.
