Winning the Teddy Award with In the Name Of and the Best Director Award with Body at the Berlin Film Festival, Polish Director Malgorzata Szumowska won the Grand Jury Prize at the same festival with Mug, in which she delivers a profound social critique through a face transplant operation. The handsome Metallica fan Jacek is passionately in love with music, his girlfriend and his dog. His whole family, the residents of the town where he lives and his colleagues view him as a “fun and crazy boy”. Jacek works in the construction of a statue of Jesus, planned to become one of the world’s largest structures. One day, after of a work accident, all eyes turn on him, because he will be the first person to receive a face transplant in the country, and his life will take an entirely new turn.
