Founded by Begüm Gökmen in 2004, Golden Horn Brass is Turkey’s first and longest running brass quintet. Possessing the power of a large orchestra, this small yet strong ensemble has been weaving music like a fabric of gold in its most sensitive, most fragile, crystalline tones with their mastery of their instruments since they first came together. Consisting of distinguished musicians who specialize in both the orchestral repertoire and in education, the ensemble presents a highly diverse program at every concert. These meticulously prepared programs include works from the Baroque period and classical period, as well as unforgettable jazz and pop songs, and sophisticated arrangements of folk melodies. The quintet, which has been a source of motivation for many Turkish composers with their commissions over the years, also contributes to bringing music closer to the public with the activities they have been carrying out for many years under the title of “educational concerts”, in which they aim to bring music to and help educate young audiences. Golden Horn Brass, which was selected as the Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year at the Donizetti Classical Music Awards organized for the fifth time in 2014 by Andante magazine, represents our country in many prestigious organizations around the world.
