The concert will feature the Rondeau National Turque by Carl Czerny, one of the distinguished piano pedagogues of music history, which represents an outstanding example of our country’s dialogue with the Western arts; the poetic melodies of Chopin and Rachmaninoff, the great poets of the Romantic period who have redefined nationality in music; the legendary French soprano Pauline Viardot’s piano and voice arrangements of Chopin’s Mazurkas, the melodies of Cemal Reşit Rey, the pioneering composer of our modern polyphonic music, and his student Aydın Karlıbel, inspired by Anatolia; and a selection of compositions by Puccini, one of Atatürk’s favorite composers.
