Zhenya and Boris are about to end a marriage marred by weariness, hatred and mutual accusations. Having affairs with others long before starting their divorce proceedings, they are both looking forward to fresh beginnings, until the disappearance of their 12 year old son Alyosha, after he overhears one of their arguments. The great master of contemorary Russian cinema Andrey Zvyagintsev portrays a Russian society dense with violence, fighting and lovelessness, a society that no longer even knows how to cry when its dreams die. Loveless won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
