We are coming together to experience the sounds that surround our inner and outer worlds through discovery, improvisation, participation and play.
Our ears are the first sensory organs to develop in the womb. Even as a fetus in the fifth month of pregnancy, we begin to develop distinct reactions to sounds.
Listening is an act that is directly connected to various layers of the brain.
Discovering Stillness and Sound was designed to help us experience the deep layers of listening.
The activity consists of two parts. In the first part, we explore through interactive methods how we can relate with our own voice, our breath, ourselves and with the internal and external sounds that surround us through mindfulness.
In the second part, we will experience a “Sound Bath” with such instrument as Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, the monochord, gongs and drums. The Sound Bath will give us the opportunity to experience the soothing, relaxing, comforting and stimulating effects of deep listening on the body and the mind.
