Founded by Leyla Pınar in 1994, İstanbul Barok is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2019. Having performed at such venues in İstanbul as CRR, CKM, FSM, Hagia Irene, Tophane-i Amire, Dolmabahçe Palace, Yıldız Palace Theater and Süreyya Opera, the ensemble has worked with the Ankara State Opera and Ballet, as well as performing in Antalya, Mersin, Sardes (Manisa), Antakya, Mardin and the Bodrum Music Festival, and in Amsterdam (twice), Brussels (three times), Namur, Luxembourg (twice) Kyrenia and Famagusta abroad. The ensemble performed the opera L’Europe Galante by A. Campra on its 300th anniversary for the first time at the Printemps Baroque du Sablon Baroque Festival in Brussels, and played their latest concert at BOZAR. İstanbul Barok has worked with such international artists as Paul Dombrecht, Robert Kohnen, Lieven Baert, Michel Keustermans, Peter Icks, Katsuko Komeda and Matteo El Khodr, as well as such ensembles as Austrian Baroque Consort and Le Cetra D’Orfeo, and such artists from Turkey as Ayhan Baran, Burak Bilgili, Pervin Çakar, Ulaş İnaç, Kaan Buldular, Cenk Karaferya, Bengi Mayone, Ezgi Saydam, Geyvan MacMillen and Tuğçe Tuna. İstanbul Barok performed the operas and cantatas Dido&Aeneas by Purcell, Venus&Adonis by J.Blow, L’Europe Galante by A.Campra, Beggar's Opera by J.C.Pepusch, Pimpinone by Telemann and Deidamia and Apollo&Daphne by Handel. In addition, the ensemble has also been organizing the International İstanbul Baroque Festival annually for 24 years, and the Baroque-Style Songs and Arias Singing Competition for the last four years, with the art direction of Leyla Pınar. The ensemble’s latest album is “Osmanlı Barok Müziği”, published by Kalan Müzik.
