Elif Çağlar studied jazz composition at the İstanbul Bilgi University Department of Music. She released the album “1-10” with her band Bağdat Avenue. She played concerts at various clubs in New York, including 55 Bar, Nublu and The Knitting Factory. She took stage at many prestigious festivals, including the International İstanbul Jazz Festival, the 22nd Akbank Jazz Festival, the 2012 Bratislava Jazz Days, the 3rd Prishtina Jazz Festival, the 2012 One Love Festival, the 2013 Luxembourg Autumn Leaves Jazz Festival and the 24rd Blues Festival. Her widely acclaimed album “M-U-S-I-C”, published by NU-DC Records, was the first album to be written and arranged by a woman jazz vocalist in Turkey. In November 2013, she performed on the album “Blues ile Birlikte Hayata” alongside famous masters of blues from Chicago Jimmy Burns and Katherine Davis and wrote the song “Bluestanbul” for the project. Winning the Best Jazz Artist Award at the 11th and 13rd Radyo Boğaziçi Music Days, Çağlar also published a single titled “Hafif Batı Müziği”, with two Turkish songs she has written. Çağlar’s latest album “Misfit”, featuring Aaron Parks, Harish Raghavan and Eric Harland, was published in May 2015.
