Telling the life story of renowned Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta, Yuli is also the story of a reluctant child becoming a dancer. Seeing the talent of the free-spirited Yuli who likes spending time out on the street, his father enrolls him in the Cuban National Ballet School against his will. With time, Yuli hears the voice inside him. Bearing the name of the son of the African god Ogun, Yuli breaks the taboos and becomes the first black ballet to perform in such respected institutions as the Royal Ballet in London.
